This study explores the mathematical communication skills of students when solving High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) problems, specifically in relation to their visualizer and verbalizer cognitive styles. The research was conducted using qualitative methods, with data collected through questionnaires, communication ability tests, and interviews. The study involved 24 students from class IX E at SMP Negeri 15 Tasikmalaya, with one subject representing each cognitive style. The results showed that students with a visualizer cognitive style demonstrated good mathematical communication skills, using both written explanations and visual representations. However, they encountered difficulties in understanding and analyzing complex information. On the other hand, students with a verbalizer cognitive style also exhibited good mathematical communication skills. They were able to convey ideas effectively in writing without using visual aids, and had an easier time understanding problems with lengthy text. Although they did not double-check their answers, they showed confidence in the results. Overall, both visualizers and verbalizers demonstrated proficiency in communicating their mathematical ideas.
