Publication Ethics

Jurnal Pengabdian Siliwangi is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and to preventing publication malpractice. The journal follows ethical guidelines based on the principles of honesty, transparency, and integrity as recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties involved in the publication process — editors, reviewers, authors, and the publisher — are expected to adhere to these ethical standards.

Duties of Editors

  1. Fair Evaluation – Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on their academic merit, without discrimination based on race, gender, religious belief, ethnicity, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.
  2. Confidentiality – Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and the publisher.
  3. Decision on Publication – The editor-in-chief is responsible for deciding which articles are accepted for publication based on the reviewers’ comments and the editorial board’s judgment.
  4. Conflict of Interest – Editors must not use unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research without the author’s written consent.

Duties of Reviewers

  1. Contribution to Editorial Decisions – Reviewers assist the editor in making editorial decisions and may also help authors improve their papers.
  2. Objectivity and Confidentiality – Reviews should be conducted objectively, and reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents.
  3. Acknowledgement of Sources – Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.
  4. Conflict of Interest – Reviewers must decline participation in reviewing manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist due to competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors or institutions.

Duties of Authors

  1. Originality and Plagiarism – Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original and properly cite the works and/or words of others. Plagiarism in any form is unethical and unacceptable.
  2. Multiple or Redundant Publication – Authors should not publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication.
  3. Authorship of the Paper – Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study.
  4. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest – Authors must disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that might influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.
  5. Fundamental Errors in Published Works – When authors discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor to retract or correct the paper.

Duties of the Publisher

The publisher, LPPM Universitas Siliwangi, ensures that publication ethics are properly implemented and takes all necessary actions against any malpractice found in the journal’s publication process. The publisher also supports editors in managing corrections, retractions, or clarifications when needed.
