All manuscripts submitted to the Jurnal Ekonomi Manajemen undergo a rigorous peer review process to ensure academic quality, originality, and relevance.
Every submitted manuscript is reviewed by a minimum of two independent peer reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. The journal applies a double-blind review system, in which reviewers are unaware of the identity of the authors and authors are also unaware of the identity of the reviewers.
Prior to the peer review process, all submitted manuscripts are evaluated by the Managing Editor and Section Editors in a prequalification stage to assess their suitability with the journal’s focus and scope, originality, and compliance with the author guidelines. As part of this initial evaluation, all manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software (Turnitin) to ensure their originality. Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding the journal’s established threshold (maximum 20%) will be rejected without proceeding to the external peer review process.
Manuscripts that pass the prequalification stage will be evaluated by a minimum of two qualified peer reviewers selected by the Managing Editor and Section Editors. The reviewers are expected to examine the manuscript and return their evaluation and recommendations within a reasonable period of time, generally within three weeks. If one of the reviewers recommends rejection, the Managing Editor may appoint an additional reviewer or consult the Section Editors to determine the final decision. The review process considers several important aspects, including novelty, objectivity, research methodology, scientific contribution, conclusions, and quality of references.
Manuscripts requiring revision will be returned to the authors through the JEM Open Journal System (OJS). Authors are required to revise the manuscript in accordance with the reviewers’ and editors’ comments and resubmit it within the specified timeframe. Revised manuscripts will be evaluated by the Editors and, if necessary, returned to the peer reviewers for further assessment.
Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the Editor will make one of the following editorial decisions:
The final decision regarding publication is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on the reviewers’ reports, the scientific quality of the manuscript, its originality, methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, and its contribution to the field of economics and management.
After acceptance, the manuscript is forwarded to the technical editor for layout and preparation for the editorial board meeting. The Editor-in-Chief will then issue an official Letter of Acceptance (LoA) to the authors and announce the publication issue.
The revision process may consist of the following stages:
Manuscripts that exceed the revision deadline will be withdrawn. Authors may request an extension from the Editor before the revision deadline expires. The time interval between submission and acceptance varies depending on the duration of the review and revision process.
Manuscripts may be rejected for the following general reasons:
